WallCity

A million-square-foot city within the city

The WallCity investigates the idea of the wall as an envelope for an
urban context. The main concept of the project is driven from the
size of the program with 1,000,000 SF.

The two major components of the project are the Wall and City blocks and the wall.  The wall is the most vital element to the building which provides the building with all the elements to function. It acts as the main core of a skyscraper but now it is stretched and moved to the periphery. Streets oriented vertically are now being interpreted into the main circulation.

The city infrastructure turned into the HVAC, Mechanical and plumbing systems. By puncturing the wall with massive opening it provides natural ventilation and light creating semi-exterior spaces between the city block. The city blocks were also oriented vertically and then occupied with a part of the program. the Buildings elevations are now turned into roofscapes where different types of outdoor activities can take place. the two elements together create a micro-city within the city. hence the name the Wall City.
